At the Party (By: Loto)
It was a fine day. One day there were two kids. On Monday 21st of August 2014, one of the kids birthday came up. The birthday was celebrated at home.
His name is Ajani and the other one is Olava. Ajani is 28 years old. Olava is 28 years old too. Ajani is clever and Olava is good at rugby.
Olava and Ajani got a big fright because the emergency water came down. It was the huge candle that set the emergency water.
Ajani rushed quickly to press the red button and stop the water. The cake fall on the ground because of the water. Ajani and Olava were sad. So they went to the near by shop and bought two slice of cake and ate it.
The lesson learnt was to never put a huge candle on a cake.

Travel Wise Week (19/5 - 26/5, 2014)
This is our Travel Wise Week.
The theme of the week in 2014 is 'Tune in to road safety'. We're all human: we daydream, get side-tracked, run late and make mistakes. But on roads, distractions can be fatal. When using roads, we all need to tune in to road safety and give it our full attention - particularly if we're at the wheel, but also when we're cycling, walking, skating, running, you name it - to keep ourselves and others safe.
We're asking everyone to pledge to tune in to road safety - that means promising to do your best to keep focused on the task at hand, and never putting yourself and others in danger for the sake of a call, text or other activity that can wait.
During the Week we'll be appealing to drivers to turn off their phones, and to everyone to help protect themselves and others by not speaking on the phone to someone who's driving, and when out on foot or bicycle getting off the phone, taking out headphones and taking care to stay focused on the task at hand.

Guided Inquiry Presentation
We had our Guided Inquiry Presentation as a school on the 16th of October for the whole school.
Each class went to different class to see what they have learnt in Term 3 relating to Heat on the Move. We also had to relate heat to our big umbrella topic Transportation ie. how heat is related to transportation. We found out and also explained to other children that as soon as the vehicle is turned on with the key the engine goes on. This is just because there are small fires they light up and make the engine hot for the vehicle to move. Please look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGj8OneMjek to get more idea.
Below are some of the photos we took:
We also discussed the 3 different ways the heat gets transferred: Conduction (when the flame touches the glass beaker), Convection (when the water was boiling) & Radiation (the heat we felt when standing on the side). For this we boiled little bit of water to show. Kids just loved it.

Our Guided Inquiry Presentation
On Wednesday was our presentation for the Guided Inquiry Learning. That is whatever we learnt in Term 1 we had to come up with few questions to work in Term 2 by researching and presenting it to parents and other junior classes as they rotated among different classes.
It was quite interesting as apart from gaining confidence we learnt a lot from different classes presentation. Most importantly we learnt in which areas we need to work harder and get better at.
Our questions were as follows:
